James B. “Jim” Colton, of Port Charlotte, Florida, beloved son, brother and friend, passed from this earth on Sunday, August 27, 2017. He succumbed to a long struggle with cancer at age 54.
Jim was born in River Vale, New Jersey on January 28, 1963, but spent most of his life in Florida. He attended Florida State University, Santa Fe Community College and Charlotte County High School. He was employed by Damex Corporation, and his friends and colleagues at Damex were incredibly supportive during his illness. Jim was a remarkable craftsman with an eye for detail and perfection. Always hard working, Jim was a loving and generous friend to many.
He is survived by his mother Roberta Russell, his sister Roberta Colton and brother John Colton. And he always held a special place in his heart for his niece Nicole Colton. Jim’s father, Adam John Colton predeceased his son.
A Memorial service celebrating Jim’s life, scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, September 9th, 2017, at Roberson Funeral Homes Chapel at 215 Mary Street in Punta Gorda, has been rescheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, September 23rd, 2017, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested in Jim’s name to the American Cancer Society, 4575 Via Royale No. 110, Fort Myers, FL 33919.
