James G. “Big Jim” Gravlin, 77, of Punta Gorda, Florida, passed away following a short illness, on Tuesday, February 7, 2023, at his home in Punta Gorda, Florida.
Big Jim Gravlin was born December 28, 1945, to the late Kenneth and Elizabeth Gravlin, in Denver, Colorado, but lived his entire early life in New York, most of it in Rochester, New York. Big Jim moved to Punta Gorda in the 1980’s, and quickly embraced his adopted community and its people.
Big Jim is survived by a son, Jason and daughter-in-law, Alicia, and their two sons, Tyler, and Blake, all of Costa Mesa, CA; two sisters, Diana of Albany, NY, and Patricia “Patty”, of Rochester, NY; a brother, Bill, of Branson, MO; and his friend and companion of many years, Cindy Laishley, of Punta Gorda, FL.
A Celebration of Life for Big Jim will be held in Punta Gorda, at a later date.
