ELLEN SWAN, 84, of Port Charlotte, Florida died Friday, August 27, 2010 at
Fawcett Memorial Hospital, Port Charlotte.

She was born November 11, 1925 in Baldwin, New York. Jane was a 1943 graduate of
Baldwin High School and Valedictorian of her class. She attended Adelphi College and
Julliard School of Music in New York. After living 20 years in upstate New York she moved
to Puerto Rico where she opened her own travel agency and pursued her dream of sailing.
In 1989 she moved to Port Charlotte were she wrote a three volume historical novel based
on her family genealogy. Jane was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd Episcopal- Punta Gorda and the Port Charlotte Genealogical Society.

She is survived by her loving family, a daughter Ellen Starr Swan of New York, NY;
and a son, Robert D. Swan of Bridgeville, DE.

Visitation will be held Wednesday 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Roberson Funeral Home
Port Charlotte Chapel. Funeral services will be held Thursday 11:00 AM, Sept. 2, 2010 at the
Church of the Good Shepherd Episcopal-Punta Gorda. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Gardens, Port Charlotte.

Dear Swan Family, Please accept my condolences at the death of Aunt Janie, who I met as a child in Portland Oregon. My thoughts are with you. Sincerely, Eileen Sperl (Allaway)

Dear Ellen and Robert, I only knew your Mother through the Post Polio Support Group of Port Charlotte. I did meet her, I believe, at some of the meetings. It was my pleasure, and also my late husband, Kenneth, to have known such a dear Lady. I shall remember her in my prayers and know that she is in the loving hands of our Savior and Redeemer. My deepest sympathy to you both, and your family, Fran Doyle.

We are very sorry at the loss of your Mom. We found her to be a good neighbor and friend. Loved her books. We will always remember her tenacious independence and humor. In our conversations with her about you, Rob and Ellen, she was very fond of you both and appreciated your concern for her. You both did a great job in taking care of your Mom. God bless you both.
