JANET ANN SCOTT, 81, of Port Charlotte, Florida died Thursday, July 27, 2017 at Fawcett Memorial Hospital, in Port Charlotte, FL.

Janet was born December 29, 1935 in Flint, Michigan to the late Cleon and Evelyn (Telling) Reed. Janet married James Scott of Gaines, Michigan on May 11, 1957. They were married for 47 years prior to his death on April 27, 2005. Janet retired from driving school bus after 17 years of service with Byron Area Schools. After retirement, she continued her passion of helping children by volunteering at Toledo Blade Elementary School in North Port, Florida. For over 17 years, Janet contributed numerous hours both in and out of the classroom and was selected as the 2010 Senior Volunteer of the Year by the Sarasota County School District P.A.L.S. program.

Janet is survived by her loving family, a son Robert (Kathy) Scott of Port Charlotte, FL; a daughter Lois (Kevin) Rose of North Port, FL; a brother Walter (Marion) Reed of Durand, MI; a sister Judy Oliver of Punta Gorda, FL; three grandsons, Christopher Scott of Columbia, SC, Jeremy Scott of Port Charlotte, FL and Kyle Rose of Boca Raton, FL; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and her special friends Jan Williams, Leita Leffler and Tamara Bennett.

A Memorial Service and Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday, August 2 at 2:00 pm at Roberson Funeral Home, 2151 Tamiami Trail, Port Charlotte, FL, followed by a graveside service and interment at Restlawn Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Janet A. Scott – Memorial Fund, 1642 Musa Road, North Port, FL 34286. Contributions will be used to benefit students attending Toledo Blade Elementary School.
