Janet Lee Evarts, 68, of Punta Gorda, Florida passed away at home Monday, October 28, 2013 surrounded by her family after a brief illness.

She was born January 8, 1945 in Berwyn, Illinois to the late Mr. and Mrs. James J. Cuber, Sr. A former resident of Norwalk, Connecticut, Janet and her husband Ward were winter residents of Charlotte County for many years, becoming permanent residents in 2012.

Janet is survived by her loving husband of 32 years, Ward G. Evarts; and two daughters, Deborah Vasquez of Bridgeport, CT, and Stacey (Walter III) Jchick of Monroe, CT; she also leaves behind three stepchildren, Scott Evarts of Norwalk, CT, Richard (Laurie) Evarts of Alpharetta, GA, and Tracey (Daniel) Driscoll of Boxborough, MA; three brothers, Martin Cuber of NY, James (Andrea) Cuber, Jr. of Greenville, SC, and Wayne Cuber of Norwalk, CT, as well as thirteen grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

In accordance with Janet’s wishes, there will be no calling hours. A gathering and celebration of Janet’s life will be held in the upcoming spring of 2014 in Norwalk, Connecticut.

Arrangements are by Roberson Funeral Home & Crematory Port Charlotte Chapel.
