She was born November 5, 1933, in Aikin, Minnesota to the late Simeon and Turna Bilyeu. Janette graduated from McGregor High School, McGregor, Minnesota in 1951 and enrolled in the Duluth Branch of the University of Minnesota that year. After receiving her bachelor’s degree in chemistry, she moved to Gainesville, Florida. She married Donald Pilipovich on June 18, 1955. Next, she enrolled at the University of Florida and received her master’s degree in chemistry in 1958.
The couple’s first son, George, was born in 1956. Another son, Donald, was born in 1959. She moved to Los Angles, California in 1959 with her husband where he worked as a chemist for Rocketdyne. After spending some years as a full-time mother, Janette went back to school to obtain a California Teaching Credential for math and chemistry. She enjoyed her years teaching and later, as an administrator. She retired from the Los Angeles Unified School District in 1992 and moved to Punta Gorda. Janette enjoyed working with children in the churches she belonged to. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma for many years both in California and Florida. She was an active member of the Charlotte County Retired Educators.
Survived by a son, Donald Pilipovich and a grandson, Max Simonis-Pilipovich, both of London, England. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald who died in 2001 and her son, George, who died in 2012.
Visitation will be held Monday from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM with a Funeral Service to follow at 11:00 AM at the Peace River Baptist Church, 478 Berry Street, Punta Gorda, Florida 33950. Interment will follow at Indian Spring Cemetery, Punta Gorda, Florida.
