Javier Hernandez, Jr., 61, 0f Punta Gorda, Florida, passed away on Saturday, August 12, 2023, in Miami, Florida.
Javier was born on June 30, 1961, in Havana, Cuba. Javier arrived in the United States at the age of 4 and grew up in Cutler Ridge, FL where he graduated from Southridge Senior High
School. At the age of 18, he joined the United States Army, where he served for over ten years, and then continued on to serve his country as a member of the Army Reserve National Guard,
where he was honorably discharged from both.
Javier brought joy to all that knew him, and he loved his family and friends deeply. He had a passion for cooking, often calling himself “Chef Pepin.” and delighted in sharing his dishes with
family and friends. Javier was preceded in death by his father, Javier Hernandez. Javier is survived by his life partner, Rosa Gell, his mother Ohilda (Ralph) Mirabal, his children Gianna
Rose, Javier (Mariela), and Lissette Hernandez, two sisters Ileanna (Herbert) Bosch, and Ohilda (Scott) Bombardier and his nieces and nephews, Kai, Anna Grace, and Arthur Bombardier, and
Isabella and Seth Bosch, Armando and Adam(Stephanie) Carrillo and Amanda(Jason) Grey.
Services for Javier will be held starting at 12:30 pm this Saturday, August 19, 2023, at Family Church Port Charlotte located at 20035 Quesada Ave. in Port Charlotte. Committal with military honors by the U.S. Army and burial to follow, will be held at Royal Palm Memorial Gardens’ cemetery in Punta Gorda.
