Jean Demers
October 1, 1949 - August 9, 2010

Jean was born October 1, 1949 in New York, New York and moved to Florida and subsequently to Michigan where she worked for Northwest/Delta Airlines as an airline attendant for 15 years. Through her work she was able to fulfill her love for travel and experience different cultures. Jean continued to exhibit her beauty, independence, strength, resilience, compassion, and laughter throughout her battle with the cruelty of cancer. Jean was a wonderful loving sister and friend, and will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Survivors include her loving sisters, Diane Marabella and Lori O’Brien both of Punta Gorda, FL and a brother, Steven R. Demers of Punta Gorda, FL and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Herve T. & Marie R. Demers.

There are few people in life that you have the chance to meet and remain friends with. I met Jean when I was 19 and have known her 36 years. Jean was in my bridal party. Jean could always make me laugh...she had so many funny stories of things that only happened to her. We shared both good and bad times together over the years. We both were diagnosed with cancer and shared our war stories with it. She was such a strong woman.....I don't think she ever realized how strong. I am so sorry that she did not get the remission that she longed for. Her wish was to be with her family at the end and I am happy that she was. She loved her family very deeply. Jean was a beautiful person and a treasured friend. I thank the Lord for blessing me with her friendship. My deepest and heartfelt condolences to Diane, Lori, Steven and the rest of her family.

Aunt Jean was an amazing person. She was brave, independent and had a big heart. I will hold on to the the wonderful memories and the many times she made us laugh- and boy she really could make us laugh.
