Mr. Jerome A. Lovelace, 87, of Port Charlotte, Florida, passed away Sunday, November 1, 2009 in Port Charlotte.
Jerome, a WWII pilot, lived in Rotonda West with his wife, Joan Lovelace, after selling real estate in Maryland and working in civil service with the federal government in Virginia. Lovelace, born in Fairfax, Alabama, also lived in Turtle Creek, Pennsylvania, before piloting a patrol bomber with the British Royal Air Force in 1941 and then another patrol bomber with the U.S. Navy until 1945. He received the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Air Medal with five stars from the U.S. Navy. Lovelace volunteered with Meals on Wheels in Rotonda West and attended Hope Lutheran Church in Port Charlotte.
He is survived by his son, Allan Lovelace, and wife, Joan.
