Jimmie Dale Hicks, 75, of Placida, Florida died Thursday September 24, 2020 at home.
Jimmie was born September 29, 1944 in Mountain Grove, Missouri and moved to South Haven, Michigan during elementary school. In the early 1970’s he moved to Bradenton, Florida where he owned and operated several businesses with Dwight Brenneman. In 1986, he moved to Placida, Florida and built his forever home on Palm Island. Jimmie was well known for building and remodeling homes on the island and in 2004 after his son’s passing, he continued Brett’s legacy by running Brett Hicks Golf carts while still remodeling and building on the island.
Jimmie leaves behind his beloved daughter, Debra Hicks Frieben (Michigan), two amazing grandchildren Hannah & Colin Frieben of Michigan, his best friend and business partner for over 65 years, Dwight (Betty) Brenneman of Florida and Chi Chi who never left his side.
Jimmie is preceded in death by his parents, Noah & Georgia Hicks, brothers Bill Fleetwood & Ed Hicks Sr., his beloved son Brett Alan Hicks and his best furry friends Sandy and Solomon.
Jimmie was loved by all that got to know him. He will be missed by the islanders but most of all the many people he called family. From the Bill’s kids, Mike, Amy, Belinda, Kathy, Beth and Tommy to Ed’s children, Chris, Kathi and Ray to even ones that weren’t family but he loved deeply, Zach & Emili (Cooper) Spangler and Tyler Cooper.
