Mr. John M. (Jack) Moon III, 67, of Punta Gorda, FL passed away Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2010 at Tidewell Hospice House of Port Charlotte, FL.
Jack was born in Evanston, IL June 10 1942, the son of John Milton and Ella Marie (Day) Moon.
He was a graduate of Northwestern Military & Naval Academy, Lake Geneva, WI. Jack earned a BS in Journalism at Southern Illinois University and a MS degree in Business Management from the University of Arkansas.
He was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the US Air Force after completing college at Southern IL Univ. He completed 13 years active duty as a Procurement Officer and 9 years in the Illinois and Pennsylvania Air National Guard, retiring in 1986 with the rank of Major. Jack was employed by Signode Corp. (ITW) and Strapex Corp. as a Regional Sales Rep. for Industrial Packaging Systems.
Before moving to Punta Gorda in 2002 he resided in York, PA for 22 years. He was a dedicated member of the East York Lions Club serving as President. In Punta Gorda Jack was a member of St Andrews South Golf Club and the PGIlanders Boat Club.
He is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn; two sons: SSG Russell P. (Lori) Moon, Ft. Lee, VA Colin D. Moon (Jennifer Willhoff), St Petersburg, FL; one granddaughter Sara Marie Moon. Brother Alan H. (Christine) Moon, Sturgeon Bay, WI; Sister Victoria F. (Raul) Moon-Pineda; Brother-in-law Thomas T. LeVeque, Springfield, IL
