John Joseph (JJ) Murphy, 38, of Punta Gorda, Florida, formerly of Buffalo, New York, died Tuesday, April 20, 2010.

John was born May 20, 1971 in Buffalo, New York, to Walter J. Edin and Mary Murphy. A resident of Punta Gorda since 2004, John, a specialist in auto and home repairs, attended Peace River Church of Christ in Punta Gorda.

John is survived by his beloved of more than 20 years, Tina Marie Kohler, and their four children; Seaman Justin M. Murphy USN, and Megan, Sarah and Jacob Murphy, all of Punta Gorda; his mother, Mary Murphy; brothers, Kevin and Keith Edin; and sisters, Colleen, Denise and Michelle. He was preceded in death by his father Walter.

To all the family of John: My thoughts are with you in your time of mourning. I have had the privilege of knowing John some 20 plus years. We shared alot of laughter and some times a tear. On many ocassion John would tell me Dave your my best friend. And my feeling for him was reciprocated. I am deeply saddened by his passing. I only heard a few days ago. Tina and Kevin whom I have known for many a year too. I wish I could be there to grief with you. To his beautiful children I know that your father loved you dearly. Your father has left me many memories to cherish. And to John I know the struggles that in this life you have struggled. We walked through some of them together. I wish I could have seen and been with you more over the last few years. Until we meet again, your memory will live always in my heart and mind. In God's glorious Kingdom the struggles are no more.
