John N. Bedrosian, 90, of Port Charlotte, Florida died Saturday, Feb. 4, 2017 at Village Place Health & Rehabilitation Center in Port Charlotte.
John was born February 14, 1926 in Jamaica, Queens, New York and moved to Port Charlotte in 1990 from Bayside, New York. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II serving on a Destroyer named USS Taussig as a 20 mm machine gunner. Taussig was part of the Pacific Fleet under Admiral Halsey. After the war he worked for the Queens Borough Public Library in New York and retired as Director of Purchasing.
He is survived by his loving family, his wife of 70 years, June M. Bedrosian of Port Charlotte, and a son, Kevin J. Bedrosian of North Port, FL.
Burial at sea of John’s cremated remains and military honors were recently conducted by the U.S. Navy, Mayport, Florida.
