Sorry to learn of John's passing. He was a leader in his field. I was the CEO of Advances of Berks County in Reading, PA. We were small and overwhelmed by financial real estate costs. Our board investigated several options for a merger. John Peter and Wiley House were an easy choice. John fought for us and was a wise and persistent champion of our status in Berks County. He went to court for us and fought for a building for us. He listened and switched our department within the Kidspeace program. The program survived and thrived and is still part of John's legacy and mine. I always wanted to find John and have this conversation with him, but couldn't locate him after he retired. I am grateful to have worked with John and to have known him!

Judy, I was speaking with Leo and when I asked how you and John where, he said I should contact you. Sharon typed in your names and John's obituary came up. We are so sorry to hear of his passing. Although you made it clear many years ago that you did not wish to hear from me, I wish you would please reach out now. Marty

When I was a child our Presbyterian youth minister in My. Pleasant, MI was a man by the same name. He was a beloved member of our church community. Would this man be one in the same? Condolences ti the family.

My sincere condolences to Judy Peter and family. I had the privilege of volunteering for KidsPeace from 1978-1993. I served on the Board for fifteen years and was President for six. During that time we changed the name from Wiley House to KidsPeace and started construction of the new Campus in Orefield. I had the privilege of working with John on an almost daily basis and he was always calm, selfless, pragmatic and focused on the mission. He was named an Exemplar for his outstanding performance. Rest in Peace John; you touched the lives of many children and families and for the we are Grateful!
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

I had the privilege of serving as John's Executive Assistant at KidsPeace from 1990 until his retirement in 1999. I have never met a kinder, more gracious man. He was a true visionary who remained focused on the ultimate goal of caring for as many children as possible while educating the public and government officials about our responsibility as a society to do so. While not one to seek publicity for himself, he never hesitated to speak out on behalf of children. His loss will reverberate throughout his immediate community and the larger field of child welfare advocacy. I have many, many fond memories of working with him every day and will miss him always.

Many sincere condolences to the family, Mr. John Peter was the most caring and kindest CEO that I have ever met, not only to the children but to his employees. KP really thrived during his time. It was a pleasure to come to work daily. Mr. Peter came in from the Apple Orchard one Saturday, in his overalls to the dining hall, washed up and began to serve the children their lunch that day. It was a pleasure and an honor to have worked for such an amazing man. You are one of a kind, who is missed dearly! THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME, WHICH WAS TO SHORT.....
