JOHN A. ZELENY, 92, of Port Charlotte, Florida passed away Friday, May 10, 2013 at his residence.
He was born July 28, 1920 in Moodus, Connecticut and moved to Cleveland, Ohio in 1937 to work for his Uncle’s moving company. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II, stationed in Texas. John later worked as a hardware salesman and then returned to the moving industry, from which he retired. He moved to Port Charlotte from N. Royalton, Ohio in 1989. He was a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows (IOOF) for over
65 years and was the Noble Grand and Past Grand of the IOOF Lodges in Glenwillow, OH and Punta Gorda, FL.
John is survived by his loving family, his wife of 65 years, Vicki (Kyr) Zeleny of Port Charlotte; a daughter, Kari (John ) Verhovnik of Broadview Heights, OH; a son, Cliff (Susie) Zeleny of Greenville, SC; a sister Albina Korcak of Middletown, CT; grandchildren, Julie & John Verhovnik, Lilly & Mandy Zeleny, Danny & Candice Briggs.
