Joseph “Pippo” Campione, 93, was born on June 16, 1932, in Palermo, Sicily and peacefully went to rest on June 18, 2025.
Joseph grew up loving music and was an accomplished opera singer who performed at the Brooklyn Opera House in New York. He enjoyed singing, playing keyboard, fishing, hunting, and spending time with his family and friends. Joseph studied in Italy and served in the Italian Air Force for 4 years. He worked as an aircraft mechanic for PanAm for 23 years and as a bagger for Publix Supermarket for 34 years where he frequently sang to coworkers and customers on their birthday.
Joseph is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Carmela (Saitta) Campione, and their three cherished children: Rosalia (John) Toma, Gino (Millie) Campione, Joseph (Lisa) Campione. He was a proud grandfather to seven grandchildren: Alyssa, Talia, Erika, Giancarlo, Brianna, Nico, Joseph; and proud great grandfather to four great grandsons: Anthony, Luca, Alejandro, Joshua. Joseph is also survived by his siblings: Elisabetta, Telesforo, Angela, Giacomo, Sergio. Joseph is preceded in death by his parents Gioacchino and Rosalia (Palmeri) Campione, and his brother Davide.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Roberson Funeral Home, 2151 Tamiami Trail Port Charlotte, FL 33948 on Wednesday June 25, 2025, at 10 a.m. Entombment immediately following at Restlawn Memorial Gardens 1380 Forrest Nelson Blvd Port Charlotte, FL 33949.
