Joseph A. “Joe” McComiskey, 81, of Punta Gorda, Florida, passed away Thursday, May 31, 2012 at Fawcett Memorial Hospital, Port Charlotte, Florida.
Joe was born June 20, 1930 in Lawrence, Massachusetts to the late Joseph and Edna McComiskey. Joe is a veteran of the Korean War, United States Army and graduate of Merrimack College in North Andover, Massachusetts Class of 1962. A retired public high school teacher, Joe moved to Punta Gorda from his native Massachusetts in 1992. An avid bowler, Joe toured regularly with the Amateur Bowling Tour, and was a member of the USBC, United States Bowling Congress. He was Roman Catholic.
He is survived by his wife, Justine M. (nee-Devlin); daughter Joan E. (Husband Tim) Flynn of Punta Gorda; son Joseph A. (Wife Karen) McComiskey of Campton, NH; seven grandchildren and several great grandchildren; a sister, Claire Belisle of NH, four nieces and two nephews.
Visitation beginning at 4:00 p.m., and followed by Funeral Prayer service at 5:00 p.m., will be held this Monday, June 4, 2012 at Roberson Funeral Homes Punta Gorda Chapel. Further services and burial with Military Honors will be held in Joseph’s native Lawrence, Massachusetts.
In lieu of flowers, memorial bequests in Joe’s name are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
