KENNETH F. POPP, 53, of Port Charlotte, Florida died Sunday, August 19, 2007 at his residence.
He was born December 7, 1953 in Cincinnati, Ohio to Albert and Rosa Popp and moved to Port Charlotte in 1977 from there. Kenneth was a retired mathematics teacher for the Charlotte County School Board and taught at Port Charlotte High School and Punta Gorda Middle School. He was a member of the Retired Officers Association, Disabled American Veterans Chapter #82 of Port Charlotte and a member of American Legion Post #110. Kenneth was a Viet Nam War Veteran, serving in the 1st Calvary Division, U.S. Army as a Warrant Officer and Helicopter Pilot. He received the Bronze Star, the Silver Star, 3 Purple Hearts and was a Prisoner of War from 1972 to 1973.
Survived by his loving wife, Jani G. Popp of Port Charlotte; four daughters, Carolyn (Dave) Tuttle of Ocean Springs, MS, Lisa (Joseph) Ferrentino of Port Charlotte, Theresa (Matt) Kintigh of Port Charlotte and Jennifer (Jay) Torres of Oxford, CT; a son, David Popp of Port Charlotte; two sisters, Betty Kelly of Mason, OH and Joyce Hughes of Punta Gorda, FL; and 17 grandchildren. Ken will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He will be gone but not forgotten.
