Kristopher “Kris” E. Small, age 58, of Port Charlotte, Florida, formerly of Michigan, passed away Friday, May 25, 2018, at his Port Charlotte residence.

Kris was born in Hastings, Michigan on October 9th, 1959, to the late Gary and Kaarina Small. After moving to Port Charlotte, FL at a young age and graduating high school at Charlotte High School, Kris became a Mail Carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Southwest Florida. Kris retired after 24 years’ service and moved back Charlotte County, FL to live out his retirement. He married Candace A. Small (Beaudoin) but later divorced and they have three children together.

Kris devoted his life to music and art, with a unique flair that he could only bring brining joy to those around him.

He is survived by his children, daughter Katy A. Small, and sons Kristopher M. Small, and Kristian P. Small, and grandchildren; a brother, Johannes J. Small (Jill), and sisters Amber (Trey) McCartt, Liisa (Tipper) Nichols, and Anna Conti, and nieces and nephews.

A private memorial service will be held by the Small family at a later date.

Kris, I was very lucky that you were in my life. The last 10 years of your life were the BEST 10 years of my life! I miss your snoring and I will ALWAYS cherish the time spent with you. I will AWAYS love the Small family!

I remember playing football with Kris and John Small on the side of my parents house on Conreid. I remember Kris as a happy kid and treasure the times we had playing together growing up on Conreid.

I have fond memories playing football on the side of my parents house on Conreid with Kris and John. Kris usually had a smile and I will remember him as a true friend.

Kris was a free spirit that marched to his own drum (or guitar! Lol!) He had a huge heart and was a good man. I never met his family as a good friend of Laura's... But I think I can guess who his kids and siblings are by how he was raised and lived his life! He will be missed VERY much by us both... I hope to meet you all some day!

Kris never knew a stranger. His charismatic smile was contagious. We graduated with Kris at CHS in 1978.Our 40th reunion is this weekend. He never missed a reunion. I'm sure he will be there in spirit. RIP our dear, dear friend.

Please accept my heartfelt condolences on the loss of your father, grandfather, brother and uncle. At a time like this, people wonder why somebody so young had to pass away. I hope the scripture found at Revelation 21:4 will give you comfort, because there God tells us that very soon he will do away with death and sickness from the Earth forever, and then he will resurrect Kris to perfect life here on Earth, surrounded by his family and friends, making music once again, which has always been God's purpose for mankind and the Earth.

I worked with kris for years in the Cape Coral Post Office. He was always a happy guy and he loved to sing and just make everyone happy. He will be missed.
