LAWRENCE “LARRY” E. HURLEY, 89, of North Port, Florida died Friday, January 2, 2015 at Tidwell Hospice Lakewood Ranch, Bradenton, Florida.
He was born August 11, 1925 in Saginaw, Michigan and moved to Florida in 2001 from Groton, Connecticut. He was a retired Data Management Chief for a defense contractor.He was a Methodist and a veteran of World War II, U.S. Navy. Lawrence was a life member of VFW Post 3263 of Mystic, CT, member of Port Charlotte Elks Lodge #2153, Masonic Lodge No. 1163 AF & AM of Chicago, IL, Scottish Rite, Valley of Dallas, TX, Araba Shrine of Fort Myers, FL,
Kiwanis Club of Port Charlotte, Midland Genealogical Society, Midland, TX, Southwest Florida Germanic Genealogy Society, Charlotte County Genealogical Society, Inc., Charlotte County Computer Group at the Charlotte County Cultural Center and a life member of Sons of the American Revolution.
Survived by his loving family, daughters, Joyce Guffy of North Port, FL and Sandra Humphrey of Parker, CO; a brother, Wilber Hurley of Michigan; and 5 grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday 10:00 AM, January 9, 2015 at Roberson Funeral Home Port Charlotte Chapel. Rev. Brian James of the Port Charlotte United Methodist Church will officiate. Interment with military honors by the U.S. Navy will follow at Sarasota National Cemetery, Sarasota, Florida.
