Leon E. Ganung, 82, of Port Charlotte, Florida passed away Saturday,
August 9, 2008 at Harbor Health Center in Port Charlotte.
He was born April 20, 1926 in Katonah, New York and moved to Port Charlotte in 1987 from Armonk, NY. Leon was a veteran of WW II proudly serving in the U.S. Marine Corps and was retired foreman for Foster Engineering Company in Mount Kisco, NY He was a catholic and was a member of Deep Creek Golf Club, past member of
Katonah Vol. Fire Dept., American Legion Post in Katonah, NY, Lions Club
of Bedford Hills, NY and a member of Charlotte County Marine Corps League.
Leon had many friends he loved in New York and Florida and will be missed by all.
Survived by a daughter, Betty Lee (Michael) Kriester of Henniker, NH;
a brother, Robert Ganung of Daytona Beach, FL; a sister, Audrey Waterbury
of Fishkill, NY; two beloved nieces, Bonnie Henderson of Binghamton, NY and Laurel Petkus of MA; his caregiver and friend June Jones and her daughter Tiffany of Port Charlotte; good friends, Al and Ellen Smith of West End, NC; He was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys G. Ganung who passed away in 2002.
