Liane Estelle Rogers, 89, of Punta Gorda, Florida died Thursday,
September 6, 2007 at her Courtyard of Horizon residence in Port Charlotte.
She was born September 15, 1917 in Davenport, Iowa to the late Sarah M. (nee Dodds) and Waldo McGranahan of Galena, Illinois and graduated from high school in Galena in 1934. Liane was a retired telephone operator and was a veteran of World War II. She served in the first class of women Waves in the U.S. Navy in 1942. Later she
served in the first class of women Spars in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve from
1943 to 1945. Liane was married to Harold John Rogers in 1945 in Seattle, Washington.
They were happily married for fifty-eight years and resided in Orlando, Florida for forty years, until they moved Port Charlotte in 1999.
She is survived by her loving family, daughter, Gerry L. (husband -Jose) Lopez of Punta Gorda; a brother, Wilbur McGranahan of Davenport, Iowa; 2 grandchildren, John L. Lopez and Joseph O. Lopez both of Punta Gorda; a brother-in-law, Deward E. Rogers of Orlando; a niece, Melinda (husband-Dan) DeLeon and a great nephew, John DeLeon
of Orlando; She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Harold J. Rogers and beloved granddaughter, Katherine Liane Lopez, both who died in 2003.
Graveside services and military honors by the U.S. Navy will be held Wednesday
