Lillian H. Gomes (née Guas), 66, of Punta Gorda, Florida, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at her residence.
Lily, as she was affectionately known, was born on January 5, 1958 in Manhattan, New York to Justina Matilda Guas née Triana and Pablo Jorge Guas. Her grandmother, Lilia Elena Triana, helped raise her between Manhattan, NY, and Port Charlotte, FL.
In June of 1994, Lily earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from the University of Alaska, Anchorage. Over the course of her career as a registered nurse, Lily worked in Intensive Care Units (ICUs), Emergency Rooms (ERs), and the Charlotte County Health Department (Nurse Epidemiologist).
Lily is survived by her husband, William Leo Gomes, Jr.; her children, William Leo (Analicia) Gomes, III, Salvatore Richard Gomes, Lillian Justine (Shannon) Gunderson; her grandchildren, Adrianna, Liliana, Isabel, Alexander, Sophia, Francesca, Isabella, and Magdalena; and her loving sisters, nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family that filled her life. Lily was preceded in death by her father, Pablo Jorge Guas (D. 2008); her youngest son, Robert Andrew Gomes (D. 2021); and her mother, Justina Matilda Triana (D. 2021).
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Punta Gorda Womens Club, located at 118 Sullivan Street in Punta Gorda, FL 33950 at 1:00 PM on Satuardy, June, 15, 2024. We ask people to come and share how Lillian contributed positively to their lives, whether it be through her friendship, familial affinities, endeavors as a health care professional, arts and crafts, or, for those of us most blessed, all of the above.
