Linda Ann (DesRoche) Hewitt , 63, of North Port, Florida died Friday, August 28, 2020 peacefully at home, surrounded by her family.
Linda was born January 18, 1957 in Rumford, Maine, the daughter of Ronald DesRoche and Shirley Baumbach (McPhee). She grew up in Norwich, Connecticut and graduated from St. Bernard High School in Montville Connecticut in 1975. She moved to North Port, FL with her family in 2004. One of her first jobs was at Benny’s Home and Auto in Norwich, CT, where she met her husband John. She also worked at Farmers and Mechanics Bank in Middletown, CT as an assistant manager, and at Cross Sound Deli in New London, CT as an accounting/payroll clerk. After moving to Florida, she worked as a hostess at Family Table Restaurant in North Port, and several retail jobs including Tiki’s Boutique in Punta Gorda. Linda was an avid reader who also enjoyed cooking, watching Hallmark movies, and celebrating special occasions with her family, especially the Christmas season. She is regarded by her loved ones as a peacemaker, who accepted everyone as part of the family. Her greatest efforts in life were focused on raising her children and taking care of her family, including her two beloved cats.
Linda was preceded in death by her father Ronald DesRoche. She is survived by her husband, John Hewitt of North Port, FL; daughter Brittany Zeledon and her husband Makdiel Zeledon of Sarasota, FL; daughter Chelsea Hewitt of St. Petersburg, FL; son Kyle Hewitt and his girlfriend Carly Dufficy of Venice, FL; In-laws Everett and Dorene Hewitt of North Port, FL; mother Shirley Baumbach of North Port, FL; brothers Robert and Michael DesRoche of Norwich CT, and Steve DesRoche of Jacksonville, NC; her sisters- and brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews, and their children.
A private Memorial Service will be held Saturday 11:00 AM, Sept. 5, 2020 at Roberson Funeral Home Chapel, 2151 Tamiami Trail, Port Charlotte, FL 33948. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to cancer research or animal welfare funds.
