Lorraine F Cushing, 106 ½, of Largo, FL passed away Sunday, June 22, 2025, at her home in Largo, FL.
Lorraine was born in Pontiac, IL on November 20, 1918, to Patrick and Anna Loughran who came over from Coatbridge, Scotland to America. She married Robert J Cushing New Years Day in 1940 and was married for 75 years. She graduated from Illinois State University and went on to become a 2nd grade teacher. Over the years she boarded students who went to the local college and helped with insurance, real estate, and securities at the Cushing Agency in Macomb, Illinois that was owned by her husband, Robert. She was involved in her community through the Elks Club and American Legion. She was an eucharistic minister for 8 years at St Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Port Charlotte, FL. She enjoyed art, drawing and painting and was the architect of their home they built in Port Charlotte.
Survivors include her daughter, Barbara E Kelly of Auburn, Il, 7 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, and her daughter, Mary Fran Coultas and her son, Robert J Cushing Jr.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 11am, Saturday, June 28, 2025, at St Patrick Catholic Church in Largo, FL. A graveside service will be held at 11 am, Wednesday, July 2 at Restlawn Memorial Gardens in Port Charlotte, FL.
