Louise Marion Carey,83, of Port Charlotte, Florida passed away on August 12, 2026, at Gulf Coast Medical Center in Fort Myers, Florida.

Some love stories are measured in years. Ours was measured in a lifetime. Born on June 14, 1943, in Quincy, Massachusetts, Louise came into this world and, in time, into mine. We met when we were just fifteen years old, and from that moment on, we were never truly apart. We had a marriage that lasted sixty-one years — not because it was always easy, but because Louise had a rare and beautiful gift for loving people fully, patiently, and unconditionally. She was my sweetheart at fifteen, my bride at twenty-two, my partner and helpmate through every subsequent season, and she remains the great love of my life.

Together, Louise and I raised three children she adored with all her heart: our sons Robert and Ronald Carey, and our daughter Diane Turco. To be Louise’s child was to be championed, comforted, and completely loved. She poured herself into her family, and that love multiplied and blossomed in her five cherished grandchildren, who thought the world of her — Erin and Ryan Carey, and Abby, Nick, and CJ Turco. Being “Grandma” was perhaps the title she wore most proudly, and the grandchildren returned that devotion fully. And we cannot forget her faithful companion, Berkley, her devoted dog, who waits by the door for her still and misses her deeply.

Louise’s faith was not something she spoke of — it was something she lived. A dedicated follower of Jesus and  member of her church, she led the only way she ever knew how to: by quietly, selflessly serving others. Whether she was lending a hand to a neighbor, offering comfort to someone in need, or simply showing up when it mattered most, Louise made everyone around her feel seen and valued. She believed that a life well-lived was a life spent lifting others, and by that measure, her life was rich beyond counting. Her kindness rippled through her church and her community in ways we are only beginning to fully understand as the notes and memories pour in.

To know Louise was to be loved by Louise. She leaves behind a family shaped by her tenderness, a community strengthened by her service, and a legacy of faith that will inspire us all the days of our lives. With all our love, Edward Carey and the Carey and Turco families

The family is planning a Celebration of life Friday, September 18, 2026, 📍 Movement Church, 20444 Midway Blvd, Port Charlotte, Florida 33952 at 2:00 PM. Refreshments to follow in the Family Life Center adjacent to the Church. In keeping with Louise’s giving spirit, the family kindly asks that you come ready to share a memory, a smile, or a story — for that is exactly how she would want to be remembered.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Gator Wilderness Camp School, an organization that was very close to Louise’s heart. She cared deeply about the work they do and the difference they make in the lives of boys and their families. In her memory, she would be honored to have your support help continue this important work.
