LOYD GEORGE LANGMAID, 80, of North Port, Florida died peacefully with his family by his side Sunday, December 11, 2011 at Fawcett Memorial Hospital, Port Charlotte, Florida.

He was born May 16, 1931 in Dearborn, Michigan. Loyd was a retired supervisor for Michigan Bell and moved to Florida 6 years ago with his wife, Yvonne Marie from Lincoln, Michigan. He was a member of Alcona Masonic Lodge #292 and Ossinkeke Eagles Arie #3762. Loyd served as a volunteer Fireman and was a former Oakland County Water Patrolman.

Survived by his loving wife of 58 interesting years, Yvonne of North Port; a daughter, Adonia of White Lake, MI; two sons, Richard of White Lake, MI and Michael of Dearborn Heights, MI; a sister, Marjorie Johnson of Cass City, MI; and 5 grandchildren, Richard, Eric, Joel, Kaitlyn and Luke, and a great grandson, Cameron, all of White Lake.

He will be sadly missed by his family, friends, and two Yorkies. His interests included peanut butter cookies and back scratchs.

Having met and known Loyd from being a past employee of LLWC, it is with great sadness to learn of Loyd's passing. I worked for a number of years at LLWC and Loyd was a kind and friendly man to talk and joke with. I will always remember him saying to me as he clarified the spelling of his first name, " That's Loyd, with one L", along with a big smile on his face! And I always remembered how to spell it, because he made it so fun and amusing, how could a person not remember! You will be missed my friend, Loyd, (with one L), and my deepest condolences to his wife and family!

Yvonne & Family, Jim & I are so sorry to hear of Loyd's passing. I will remember all the good times playing euchre with Loyd at Smokey's and the Eagles. I am sure everyone will miss Loyd at LLWC as he did so much for all of us here. Will have to get together when you come back to Michigan.
