Lula Sizemore, 79, passed away Sunday, February 26, 2023, at her home in Port Charlotte, Florida.
She was born at Manchester, in Clay County, Kentucky on May 28, 1943, the daughter of Hugh Reed and Francis Davidson Reed. She married Edwin Sizemore on June 29, 1962, at the Hopewell Baptist Church and they celebrated 50 years of marriage before his passing.
Mrs. Sizemore was a 1961 graduate of Clay County High School. Along with her husband they were successful business owners that built many homes in the St. Cloud, Florida area and operated Sizemore’s Farm Equipment and Sizemore’s Service Center in both Holton and Versailles, Indiana. She was a realtor and held a broker’s license in Indiana, but also worked at a local state hospital dispensing medication to the patients.
She was a member of the Butlerville Mennonite Church, Butlerville, Indiana, Freedom Bible Church, Port Charlotte, Florida, and the Versailles Eastern Star. She loved to travel, cook and look at antiques, but most of all she loved spending time with her family.
Survivors include one daughter, Peggy (Jim) Fear of Port Charlotte, Florida; Grandson Michael (Brittany) Fear of Port Charlotte, Florida; and three Great-Grandsons Isaac, Easton and Trace Fear all of Port Charlotte, Florida; one brother, David (Geraldine) Reed of North Vernon, Indiana; one sister, Esther (George) Downs of Butlerville, Indiana, and several nephews, nieces and cousins. Her husband, parents and siblings, Doriscena McQueen and Nancy Goins of Butlerville; JB Reed of North Vernon, Indiana; Della Smith of Lexington, Kentucky; Pearl Roe of Holton, Indiana and Rev. Leroy Reed of Milford, Indiana, preceded her in death.
Memorial services will be held in Florida on Sunday, March 5, 2023, at 5:00pm at Freedom Bible Church located at 1050 Corporate Avenue, in North Port, Florida 34289, and later in Indiana on Saturday, March 11, 2023, at 4:00pm at the Christ Community Church located at 4750 County Road 300 North Butlerville, Indiana, 47223.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Freedom Bible Church in Florida, Christ Community Church (formerly Butlerville Mennonite Church) in Indiana, or her daughter’s school, Charlotte Preparatory School in Port Charlotte, Florida (365 Orlando Blvd., Port Charlotte, Florida). Memorials can be given at the service or mailed directly to the location in honor of Lula.
