I was saddened to learn of her passing , I didn’t know her very well but getting to know both of you gave me knowledge of her outstanding legacy. It has been a long time but I do have fond memories of you and your family and sports at Lafayette High School. Also a memory of meeting Tracy and two little ones at the Zoo in Syracuse. Dear Kirstin and Tracy, On behalf of Book Club, I send my sincere condolences on your mother’s passing. She was a lively and loyal member of our group and our members, in hearing of her passing, have shared their deep appreciation of her devotion and interest in all of our club’s varied literary pursuits. Many have noted how she never failed to participate in discussions and decisions that would benefit our members, even from her winter home in Florida. She was always interested in helping us be the best literary club we could be. On a personal note, I am so appreciative of the support she gave me as President of the club two years ago. Always with a twinkle in her eye, she would help me navigate the various duties that befall a President, some unexpected! But she always had a calm and pragmatic response to any question I asked her and with her help, I enjoyed my term immensely. She always spoke of her family with such love and pride. Most recently, she presented a paper to our club on Mark Twain and she preceded her author comments with a brief aside on the impact that your father had on the Elmira community and its recreational parks and landscaping. She had many fond memories of that special time in their lives. Of course, her presentation on Twain spurred me on to read his works, something I had never tackled. Most recently, we corresponded about Percival Everett’s novel, James, and the new biography of Twain; she had great insights to share. We last saw Marcia in July of this year when our club enjoyed an excursion on Skaneateles Lake. I sat with her on the boat and we laughed and talked about her many adventures with family and friends on the lake. I was once again reminded of varied were her many adventures she’d enjoyed throughout her interesting life! Following our excursion, we emailed back and forth several times, both commenting on how much fun the day had been. It’s a wonderful memory for me to now poignantly enjoy and to help commemorate a wonderful woman. I hope these fond words of remembrance bring you and your families some comfort during what I know is a difficult time. I want you to know that we are so grateful to have known Marcia. ~~Ellen Owens

Kirstin and Tracy, I have so many great memories growing up together on Graham Road and skiing at Song Mountain. Your mom (and dad) provided a lot of color in my childhood... I chuckled with your mom's choice of the word "scheme" in her obit... always good trouble (and so much fun)! My best to you both and your families. Her spark will be missed.

Dear Kirsten and Tracy, My deepest sympathy to you and your family on the death of your mother. She was one amazing woman. We taught together for only a few years at LaFayette but were friends ever after. She was an amazing teacher. Her ability to travel the world and to see the most interesting parts was astounding. She always got to the point of a conversation quickly and with great insight. May she rest in peace. Anna
