Margaret J. (Smaniotto) Hyson, age 72 of Port Charlotte, Florida, formerly of Millville, New Jersey, passed away suddenly on Sunday, August 30, 2020, in Port Charlotte.
She was born on August 26, 1948 in Charleston, South Carolina, to the late John and Alice (nee-Blizzard) Smaniotto. Margaret was a CNA for 17 years at Englewood Health Care center in Englewood, Florida, and also worked for Wheaton Glass and Private Home Care. She enjoyed going to the casinos in Atlantic City, camping, drive-in-theater movies, buffets and wildwood boardwalks; her hobbies were her plants, doing word searches and being with her family and friends, but most of all she enjoyed life and being with her children and their spouses and she loved her grandchildren to the Moon and back, and her pets were her pride and joy.
Margaret will be sadly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her four children, Gail Hyson and her fiancée Rick Lounder, Diane Feliciano and her husband Dave Feliciano, Thomas Hyson and his wife Cathy, and Paul Hyson; her grandchildren Jason Feliciano and fiancé Jen Rogers, and Anthony Marsden; her twin sister Alice Cruz and sister Frances Frolick; Margaret’s companion Michael Dowd of Port Charlotte, FL, and her sister-in-law Rose Hyson and her husband Richard Crose. In addition to her late parents, Margaret was preceded in death by her husband of 23 years, Paul E. Hyson, in September of 2002.
Visitation and Funeral service with committal and burial to follow will be held this Thursday, September 10, 2020. Visitation and Funeral service will be held at Roberson Funeral Home, 2151 Tamiami Trail in Port Charlotte, FL. Visitation will begin at 9am, and continue until start of service at 10am. Committal with burial to follow will be held 2pm Thursday, at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL, where she will be laid to rest with her late husband Paul.
