MARIBELLE SCRIVINES, 80, of Port Charlotte, Florida and formerly of
Milford, Connecticut died April 26, 2007 in Port Charlotte.
She was born August 27, 1926 in Detroit, Michigan to the late
David R. and Mary B. (Miner) Englund. She was a graduate of Russell Sage College with a B.S. in Business and a graduate of New Haven State Teachers College with a M.S.
in Education. Mrs. Scrivines was an elementary school teacher in the Milford public schools until her retirement in 1985. She and her husband, William moved to Port Charlotte 20 years ago from Milford. Mrs. Scrivines was a member of St. Peters Episcopal Church of Milford. Member of the Daughters of the American Revolution
(DAR), Florida Retired Teachers Association, American Association of University
Women, National Federation of Grandmothers Clubs of American, Life member of
the Connecticut Education Association (CEA) and Milford Education Association (MEA), Milford Emblem Club of the Milford Elks Lodge, and Milford American Legion Post No. 196.
She loved gardening and had an extensive knowledge of plants and how to care
for them. She took pride in the activities and accomplishments of her children and
grandchildren. She also enjoyed painting in her retirement, working in the different art
mediums, however she liked oil painting the most.
Survived by her loving family, her husband of 59 years, William P. Scrivines
of Port Charlotte; a son, William P. “Woody” (Maureen) Scrivines, Jr. of Orange, CT; two daughters, Susan Solimeno of Waterbury, CT and Barbara (Steven) Page of Stratford, CT; a brother, David Robert ( Mary Jane) Englund of Berea, OH; 8 grandchildren, David Scrivines of Weston, CT, Kyle Scrivines of Orange, CT, Bridget (Jamie) Ivers of Harleysville, PA, Christopher Solimeno of Waterbury, CT, Paul Solimeno of Waterbury, CT, Jeffrey (Toni) Page of East Haven, CT, Tracie (Kevin) Page of Secane, PA and Brian Page of Stratford, CT; 1 great granddaughter, Gianna Solimeno of Bristol, CT; and several nieces and nephews.
