Marie Felicita Augustin, affectionately called (Popée) was a beloved daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. Born on November 13, 1932, in L’Etang, a rural area of Anse-Rouge, Haiti. She was the eleventh of twelve children gifted to her parents Derius Augustin, known as (Papa De) and Cenerfize Augustin, also called (Grann Cece), who together were also parents to Derilia, Camila, Jesula, Anaise, Marianne, Walter, Robert Derius, and Evelyn. She had a number of other siblings by her father as well, with whom she had very loving relationships.
Popée married Jean Bouloute and was a devoted wife for over 30 years. She had seven biological children Yvrose, Franklin, Marie-Myrtho, Martine, Emanuel-Rigaud, Yamilee and Regine -Lynda. With the help of her beloved brother Robert Derius Augustin (Ti Filo), she worked tirelessly to give her children a good life. She also mothered other children including her stepchildren, Jean Michel and Bebette. To support her family, she engaged in several arduous enterprises always displaying creativity, entrepreneurship, and industry in a challenging economy. In pursuit of better opportunities, she migrated to the United States in 1987 where she continued to work assiduously towards a better life for her children.
Felicita’s legacy includes her 7 children, 20 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren to whom she gave immeasurable love and joy. She lived a long and fulfilling life, transitioning peacefully at the age of 90 on April 28, 2023. She is survived by her children – Yvrose Altidor, Franklin Augustin (Marie), Marie-Myrtho Brutus (Charles Andre), Emmanuel Menos, and Yamilee Menos (Edgar Walker); Her 20 grandchildren – Tracey, Steven, Carrington, Hadassah, Marie Flore, Sheila, Ruth, Ketia, Daniel, Michel, Stacey, Ervin, Ermano, Katrina, Melissa, Jephte Mag, Loissa, Yanni-Edgar, Arvin and Rodney; Her 7 great grandchildren Deshawn, Cassandra, Jhalissa, Makai, Maliq, Kaydence and Zohra. She also leaves to mourn her loss, her only surviving sister Evelyn (Michelle Pras); alongside her beloved nieces, nephews cousins and extended family including Francine, Anita, Charles, Jania, Roseline, Magalie, Yolaine, Jean-Robert, Pascal, Charles-Rony, Rose-Berthe, Ronald, Romeo, Phillip, Kevin, Edith, Vita, Martine (Ti Cece) , Luders, Yvetta, Luderva, Bryan, Joshua, Celanie, Pelicier, Elizabeth, Joanes, Bruno, Fritzber, Suze, Choupette, Nadege, Francoise, Oxane, Nicole, Ruben, Marie Junie, Syfrid, Roseleine, Wilner, Marie Antoine, Antonio, Nazaire, Carole, Marise, Benoit, Innocent, Marie, Roselor her caretaker and many more. She was predeceased by her daughters Martine and Regine-Lynda and by 10 siblings, the most recent
being her beloved brother Robert Derius.
Popée has left a profound impact and she will be missed dearly, but her legacy will live on through her family and friends, who will carry her memory in their hearts forever. May her beautiful soul Rest in
Eternal Peace.
