On Tuesday, March 2, 2021 we lost the love of our lives, Marilyn Laura Bell Gay.
Marilyn was born July 2, 1943 in Brooklyn, New York. She grew up in Canarsie, living for a time in their famous Quonset huts. Marilyn lived in Brooklyn for 30+ years before relocating to Nassau County, Long Island to raise her two boys. She moved to Florida in 1993 to be with her mother Norma Edwards Bell.
Marilyn loved being in the kitchen, she cooked by feel, creating amazing meals and baked goods without the need of recipes. Dissecting ingredients in meals by taste alone. In some other life she would’ve opened her own restaurant. She was an avid reader and specifically loved the works of Sidney Sheldon.
She was the former Human Resources Director for Charlotte County. Prior to that she spent many years working in the architectural field at Ellerbe & Company, Skidmore Owings & Merrill, then with I.M. Pei & Associates.
After retiring Marilyn dedicated herself to making her family and friends happy. Baking goods for family and friends and spending every waking moment praising her “Genius” grandsons.
She is survived by her loving family, two sons, Jeffrey K. Gay of Port Charlotte, FL; Kevin M. Gay of North Port, FL; Daughters-in-law, Maria Gay & Marisa Sinclair; three grandchildren Jacob, Lucas & Tarrant; Ex-husband, Samy Gay of Jersey City, NJ; a sister, Cheryl Bell Homer; a brother, Michael Bell; many nephews, nieces and cousins.
