Marion P. Van Loon, 78, of Port Charlotte, Florida passed away Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at Fawcett Memorial Hospital in Port Charlotte.

Marion was born December 6, 1933 in Cape Vincent, New York. She lived in Geneseo, NY and often times resided in her other home in Port Charlotte where she enjoyed the sun and her companionship with friends. Marion was a member of the Charlotte Players in Port Charlotte, the Red Hat Society and Women’s Club of Port Charlotte. She enjoyed her life to the fullest with family and friends. She will forever be missed by all who loved and knew her.

She is survived by her loving daughters, Carol Van Loon of Dover, NH, Marcy Hackenbrack of Plymouth Meeting, PA and Judy Clark of Alfred, NY; 3 sisters, Julia Mentry of Camp Hill, PA, Rose Thompson of Port Charlotte, FL and Jean Eaton of Cohoes, NY and 5 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Bruce T. Van Loon.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date by the family. Memorial Contributions may be made to: The Charlotte Players, Inc. P.O. Box 494088 Port Charlotte, FL 33948.

Carol, Marcy & Judy - Your parents were very special and their influence on you was evident when I knew you in high school. My thoughts and prayers are with you as you go through this time of mourning the loss of your mom.

I will miss our very special friendship we had for 33 years. Our walks ,dinners, movies, our jewelry making. My prayers to your family .

We will miss you good friend. Always love you and be in our memories.

After our children were done with high school we didn't have much contact but I did see Marion within the last couple of years. It was so good to talk with her and bring each other up to date on our families. My sympathy to you. Take care of yourselves.

We were so shocked to see that Marion is no longer with us. She was a wonderful lady. We knew Bruce and her when they farmed their land in South Livonia. Such a great couple!!! It was such a pleasure to visit with them when they would be out in the field and our girls would take lemonade out for Bruce and Marion, to get a cool drink in the heat he would be working in. Although I lost touch with Marion over the past several years, my memories of her are very fond. She was a wonderful woman and I loved her smile and laugh. My thoughts and prayers go out to her family.

Even though we have known Marion for only a short time in the span of life, we thought of her as a very close and good friend. She will greatly be missed by us. Dale and Sharon

I will miss your smilling face and you excellent positive thinking. When someone needed help you were always there. Jolie and I Loved you very much.

Marion was a lovely lady, I knew her thru the park we lived in and mostly back stage at the Charlotte Players. She always had a smile & hug for me & I loved her & will miss her.

Murray & I got to know Marion for the first time last year but had the pleasure of her friendship this past Winter. We had many great laughs during Happy Hour and what a great sport she until the very end, especially with Corn Hole. We will miss you marion .

My late husband and I were very fond of Marion. I will miss her sense of humor and her captivating smile. She will be missed by many. There was no facilty to sign in from Canada so I used my former Port Charlotte designation to do so. Deepest condolences to her family from Brockville, Ontario
