MARY E. ROBINSON, 85, of Port Charlotte, Florida passed away peacefully Saturday, August 28, 2010 surrounded by her family at Village Place Health & Rehab Center, Port Charlotte.
Mary was born December 22, 1924 to the late Gustafe and Rose Elfe in Wilmington,
North Carolina and remained there for most of her childhood. In 1946, Mary graduated
From St. Joseph College in Emmitsburg, Maryland. Following graduate, she met the love
of life, Bill. The couple wed in June of 1954 and moved south to Melbourne, FL, where
Mary was the school librarian and active in both the Women’s Guild and the
Choir at Ascension Catholic Church. The Robinsons then relocated to Port Charlotte in 1972
where they settled to build their life together. In Port Charlotte, Mary worked as the librarian
at St. Charles School for 18 years, in addition to raising the couple’s five children. She was
a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church where she was active in the Isabellas and the CCW.
Mary was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She always
put God and family first. She was a loving matriarch to her family and a role model for all.
The world was a better place with her in it. “Mama” will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her loving family, her husband of 56 years, William “Bill” M.
Robinson of Port Charlotte; four daughters, Kathy (Jim) Wolf of Roswell, GA,
Debbie (Tony) Shore of Port Charlotte, Peg Robinson (Sherry Long) of Naples, FL and
Cindy Carrano (Matt McCormack) of Port Charlotte; a son, Bill Robinson, Jr. of Apple Valley,
CA; 9 grandchildren, Christopher (Rachel) Bolyard, Jennifer Bolyard, Stephen K. Wolf,
Katie (Billy) Elliot, Susan Shore, Brian Shore, Leanna Robinson, Jessica Carrano, and
Romeo Carrano; 2 great grandchildren, Grace Bolyard and Benjamin Bolyard.
Visitation will be held Friday 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Roberson Funeral Home
Port Charlotte Chapel with a Catholic Wake Service and Rosary at 4:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday 1:00 PM, September 4, 2010 at St. Charles Borromeo
Catholic Church, Port Charlotte. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Gardens,
Port Charlotte.
In lieu of Flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Charles
Borromeo Catholic Church, 21505 Augusta Ave., Port Charlotte, FL 33952.
