Michael Jay Cohee Sr., 71, of Port Charlotte, Florida died Monday, July 17, 2023, at ShorePoint Health-Port Charlotte.

Michael was born April 2, 1952, in Frankfort, Indiana to the late Robert and Mary Cohee. He moved to Charlotte County in 1973.                                                                                               Michael was a United States Marine Corps veteran, serving in the Vietnam War.  He was a retired Firefighter for Charlotte County Fire & EMS with 28 distinguished years of service.

He is survived by his loving family, his wife of 45 years, Darlene Cohee, and children Jerry (Diane) Cohee, Danielle Cohee, and Michael (Dana) Cohee, Jr.

He is also survived by siblings Robert, Joyce, Richard and Tina as well as grandchildren Larysa (Ryan), Mollee, Everett, Maryn and great granddaughter Ada Rose.

A Celebration of Life for Michael will be held at The Celtic Ray in Punta Gorda on Saturday, July 29th, 2023 at 2:01pm in recognition of his badge number with the Charlotte County Fire Department.

Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to the MDA, Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Darlene and family. My thoughts and prayers are with you, I just wish I could make it to share memories of Mike and let you know what him and you all truely meant to me. As a snot nosed kid Mike and Darlene welcomed me as family and shared their knowledge, time, and family with me. Mike was truly a mentor in the Fire Department to everyone.
