Michael “Mike” Patrick O’Rawe, 56, of Port Charlotte, Florida, passed away on May 7, 2024, at home surrounded by his loving family. Mike remained a brave man as he unknowingly battled cancer amongst other health issues.
Mike was born January 10, 1968, in Mineola, New York to Hugh O’Rawe Jr. and Patricia Mary McConville. Michael moved to Framingham, Massachuesetts in 1972 where he grew up. Michael graduated from Framingham South High School in 1986 and Mass Bay Community College with his associate in business administration in 1989. Michael lived in Huntington Beach, California from 1990 to 1996 with Madeline O’Rawe while working with his lifelong mentor, Roger Rosenberg at Community Tire. Michael and Madeline moved back to Massachusetts in 1996 after the birth of their son. Michael worked three jobs while providing for his family and discovered his love for painting.
Soon after the birth of his two daughters, Michael relocated his family from Northborough, Massachusetts to Punta Gorda, Florida in 2003. Working long days and even longer nights to accomplish his dream of becoming a business owner. With the help of Warren Wachholder, in 2008, he started his own painting business “Mike O The Painter” from the ground up ensuring his legacy as a respected painter would remain with him until the end. He has touched the hearts of many in the Deep Creek community in immeasurable ways.
Survivors include his loving wife Madeline V. (Corcoran) O’Rawe; former spouse Kathy (Swofford) O’Rawe; his three children, Sean P. O’Rawe, Shana M. O’Rawe, Michelle V. (O’Rawe) Beasley; son in law, Brandon Beasley; his granddaughter, Hailey O’Rawe; sister Patricia Ergas; brother Hugh O’Rawe III and his wife Tricia; and fifteen nieces and nephews.
Michael was an extraordinary individual who touched the hearts of many, leaving an everlasting mark wherever he went. He was friendly, compassionate, and a respectful husband, father, papa, friend, and neighbor. He was a man of honesty, integrity, commitment, and faith.
A celebration of Michael’s life will be held on Friday 4:30 PM to 7:30 PM, May 24, 2024, at the Harbor Heights Civic Association, 2530 Harbour Dr., Punta Gorda, FL 33983. Later there will be another celebration of Michael’s life with family and close friends in Massachusetts. Details will be announced once arrangements are made.
