Michelina “Lina”(Maietta) Vessella , 67, formerly of Lincoln, RI, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones.
Born in Santa Croce di Carinola, Italia on July 4, 1956, she immigrated to Providence, RI in 1972 with her loving family. Through her big brother Mario, she met and fell in love with “Pino”, and they were married in 1979. Together, they built a family of their own and a successful hair salon (Pino’s Hair Studio) that they sustained for almost 40 years diligently working side by side. In their retirement, they relocated to Port Charlotte, FL to enjoy sunny days and laughter-filled nights with her adored family members.
Lina’s passion for cooking, sewing, and entertaining family and friends brought her the utmost joy. Whether cooking for her grandkids or a large holiday feast, she effortlessly prepared spreads and loved sitting around a table full of food laughing and talking. She did everything with compassion and kindness – never hesitating to help or lend an ear. While we feel such a profound loss now, we will forever remember her bright spirit and are blessed to have felt it shine upon us.
She leaves behind her devoted husband of 44 years, Giuseppe “Pino” Vessella, and 3 cherished daughters, Orsola (Mark) Lopez, Venessa Vessella, and Laura (Sufian) Hassan. She will be deeply missed by her 6 siblings – Mario (Betty) Maietta, Saverio (Susan) Maietta, Toni (Joseph) Lacombe, Josephine (Steve) Capoverde, Roberto (Reneé) Maietta, and Patricia (David) Anthony. Her 7 treasured grandchildren Massimo, Marcello, Milio, Milena, Lucca, Siena, and Luciana lit up her days. Her abundant love for her many nieces and nephews stretched from RI to FL.
Our beloved mother, wife, sister, aunt, nonna and friend was welcomed into Heaven by her late parents Carmine and Angela(Simeone) Maietta, brother Bruno Maietta and her grandmother Antoinetta (Palmieri) Simeone.
