Mirijana was born in Rasanac, Serbia, to Milica Nikolic and Bozidar Paunovic., and was one of two children. She was preceded in death by her brother Andreja Paunovic, her former husband Vitomir Marinkovic, and her stepson Milivoje Marinkovic, who both passed away in 1998.
Mirijana and Vitomir immigrated to the United States in 1967, and together they had one daughter, Petrija, who is married to Lian Jen. They had seven children: Nikolas, Petar, Alexandar, Stefan, Christopher, Natalie, and Oliver. From Milivoje’s marriage to Verica, Mirijana also had two grandchildren: Vesna and Malisa Marinkovic.
A skilled seamstress and factory line worker, Mirijana was fluent in Serbian, Romanian, and Spanish. She loved gardening, cooking, and raising farm animals. Her church and community brought her great joy, and she was an active member since moving to Florida in 1999. Mirijana was a strong and proud woman who arrived in the United States with a single suitcase and built a life she worked hard for.
She is survived by her immediate family: Petrija and Lian Jen; Christopher and Brigid Jen; Stefan and Grace Jen; Nikolas and Emon Jen; Oliver Jen; Natalie Jen; Petar Jen; Alex Jen; Malisa Marinkovic; Vesna Marinkovic; Verica Marinkovic; along with extended family abroad and numerous friends. We honor her life, remember her struggles, and cherish the spirit she embodied and the lessons she shared with us all.
