She was born November 14, 1962 in Brooklyn, New York to the proud parents of Henry & Elsie Maikowski. She moved to North Port in 1999 from Charleston, South Carolina. Nancy met and married her loving husband George in Virginia Beach, VA. As a Navy wife she traveled extensively with her husband from coast to coast and overseas. She was a retired Registered Nurse. During her career as an RN, she sincerely enjoyed caring for the mentally and physically disabled children and those less fortunate. Her dream of being a stay home wife came true for her in 2004. Nancy loved to garden and take care of her Furry Children, Roxy, Hanna, Kimmy, Josie, Izzy and Rosie. Nancy was deeply spiritual and loved all of nature. She would not hesitate to help someone in need. She lived life to the fullest and always enjoyed going to the Y.M.C.A. in Murdock where she enjoyed weight lifting, running and yoga with her husband and her many friends. Nancy loved to travel and explore many different countries from Machu Picchu, Peru to Paris, France. She even traveled to see the Mayan Ruins of Central America to the giant Rock Mountains of Sequoias and everything in between. Her sweet personality and gentle heart where treasured by the many lives she touched. She was a member of the American Humane Society, the Sierra Club and the Nature Conservancy. Nancy believed in fairness and balance. Nancy was a beautiful, devoted and loving wife, daughter, sister, aunt and friend and will be missed genuinely but not forgotten.
Survivors include her loving husband of 20 years, George I. Flores; her parents, Henry & Elsie Maikowski of Port Charlotte; 3 brothers, Thomas (Maria) Maikowski of Long Island, NY, Donald (Debbie) Maikowski and Mark Maikowski all of Port Charlotte; 2 nephews, Henry and Zachery and 3 Nieces, Caitlin, Brittany and Marissa.
