NETTIE L. WINT, 90, of Port Charlotte, Florida passed away peacefully at her home
on Wednesday, February 9, 2011.
She was born December 13, 1920 in Spalding-Clarendon, Jamaica to John Henry
and Florence Simmonds and immigrated to the United States in 1967. Nettie moved to Port Charlotte in 1987 from Brooklyn, New York. She was a Licensed Practical Nurse and a member of the Port Charlotte United Methodist Church.
Survived by a daughter, Jacqueline L. Wint of Port Charlotte; a son, Patrick E. (Laurie)
Wint of Oshawa, Ontario, Canada; five sisters, Elrys Kensington, Nina (Exdol) Mignott, Pauline
Simmonds all of Jamaica, Etta-Mae Forsythe of Grand Cayman and Hazel Leuhusen of Sweden;
two brothers, Lascelles Simmonds of Jamaica and Lloyd (Thelma) Simmonds of Port Charlotte;
5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Sydney, a son Hugh Wint, and a grandson, Henry Wint.
Visitation will be held Thursday, March 3, 2011 from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at Roberson Funeral Home Port Charlotte Chapel. Funeral services celebrating Nettie’s life will be held
Friday 10:00 AM, March 4, 2011 at the Port Charlotte United Methodist Church. Rev. Brian
James and Rev. J. Ralph Burton, Jr. will officiate. Entombment will follow at Restlawn Memorial
Gardens, Port Charlotte.
