Nora Stella Delgado, 76, beloved mother and wife, died unexpectedly on July 11, 2023 due to a pulmonary embolism.
Born on May 7, 1947, in Obando, Colombia, Nora spent her early childhood living on a farm with her parents and eight brothers and sisters. Her family later moved to a bigger city, Tulua, where she would meet her future sweetheart Julio Enrique, and marry him 8 months later. Together, they made the brave choice to move to the United States, leaving everything and everyone they knew behind to start a new life. They would have celebrated 51 years of marriage this September.
Their first years in the U.S. were lived in Union City, New Jersey, where the couple would encounter many struggles, but also great joys like the birth of their son. Years later they moved to Miami, Florida where Nora gave birth to her second child, a daughter. Nora worked in sales before becoming the absolute best stay-at-home mom on the planet. Brilliant in cooking Colombian cuisine, and amazing at sewing (especially her daughter’s First Communion and prom dresses), there was little her perfectly manicured hands couldn’t do.
Nora was preceded in death by her parents, Luis and Lilia Gomez, her brothers Adolfo Gomez, Faunier Gomez, and Hugo Gomez, and sister Betty Gomez. She is survived by her loving husband Julio Enrique Delgado, and their two children Julio Cesar Delgado (Jennifer), and Angela Maria Hudson (Robert). She is also survived by one brother, Cesar Gomez ( Amparo), and three sisters Norma Holton, Blanca Paredes, and Yolanda Franco (Julio) as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Her later years were spent devoting herself to her Catholic faith and traveling to foreign lands with her family. She and Julio Enrique would later move to Odessa, Florida in 2019, where she lived until her dying day.
Just as she was a sensational mother, she was an equally loving abuela to her three grandchildren: Catherine, Milo, and Zara, who miss her warm hugs terribly.
A funeral mass honoring Nora’s life will be held on Saturday, August 5 at 11 a.m. at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church(701 W. 77th St., Hialeah, FL 33014), the church Nora attended for more than 30 years. There will be a gathering at the church directly after the mass from 12-2 p.m.
Please join us in celebrating this beautiful human, whose family selfishly wishes she was still with us.
Te adoramos y extrañamos, mamita linda. Que Dios la tenga en su gloria.
