Norma L. Henry,92, of Punta Gorda, Florida, passed away on Thursday, September 28, 2023, in Sebring, Florida.
Born Norma Lee Tippett on November 18, 1930, in Royal Center, Indiana to the late Arthur and Thelma Tippett. Norma who grew up in Indiana, was the wife of Robert Harold Henry for 62 years, and full time mother of three children and Den Mother for the Boy Scouts and Brownie Leader before relocating her family from their native Indiana to Punta Gorda, Florida. She was very involved in both local organizations and with her husband’s business located in Punta Gorda, the Vacuum Cleaner Clinic, as well as partnering with him in Henry Realty and the Corner Collectibles before retiring. She was a Past President and member of Punta Gorda and Port Charlotte Board of Realtors, Past President of the Women’s Council of Realtors, Past President of Punta Gorda Women’s Club, Past President of the Exchange Club Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse / Bill Riley Center, Past member of the Punta Gorda Historical Society, and served as Guardian Ad Litem for the Charlotte County Court System for eight years. She was also a founding member of the First Christian Church in Punta Gorda.
Preceded in death be her beloved husband Robert, Norma is survived by her three children, sons Van Allan Henry of Port Charlotte, FL, and Val Duane Henry of Sebring, FL, and daughter, Mona Lea Henry of Punta Gorda, FL; she is also survived by six grandchildren, Eric, Kara, Alicia, Harold, Laci and Brent; also, a brother, Donald Tippett and sister-in-law Marli, both of Germany; and many nieces and nephews.
A service celebrating Norma’s life will be held 3pm on Sunday, October 15, 2023, at the First Christian Church in Punta Gorda. A private committal will be held for Norma, a which time she will be laid to rest with her husband.
