Norma Lee Watts, 85, of Punta Gorda, Florida went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, February 13, 2024.
Our Beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, Norma was born on October 22nd, 1938, to Clara and Frederick Klaburner, in Glen Burnie, Maryland. She met her late husband, John, in Glen Burnie and they married in 1956 and enjoyed marriage for over 50 years. Together they had three children, Frederick Watts of Punta Gorda, Ellen Shepard of Tampa, and Linda Watts of Port Charlotte and one bonus daughter Maureen Watts of Port Charlotte, with six grandchild, Justin Overbaugh (Rebecca), Sean Fullerton, John Watts, David Watts (Zaida), James Watts (Beth), Erin Pilkington (James). Norma and John have ten great grandchildren, Joshua, Ben, Gabe and Matt Overbaugh, Bryan and Ann Watts, Josie and Carson Pilkington, and Diego and Isabel Watts. She was preceded in death, by her devoted husband, loving parents and brother.
John was in the U.S. Marines, so they moved around many times during the early days of their marriage, with John serving many deployments and Norma doing an excellent job of keeping the home fires burning. They eventually retired to Port Charlotte, FL in 1971. Norma then worked for Dr. Goggin for many years and started the Shipping Post in 1990. She developed many lasting and lifelong friendships through her church, Hope Lutheran, where she was in the choir and held various positions throughout the years. She was also active in Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, the Junior Women’s league, the A.W.L. and volunteer work in her neighborhood.
