I was taken by suprise to hear of Norm's passing. I did not relaize that he was a resident of Port Charlotte. I too am a resident of Port Charlotte. I knew Norm for many years in the Hartford area as I was from that area and served with him in the Hartford Chapter of Telsa. I was president of Hartford Chapter of Telsa after he was president of the chapter. He was such a wonderful person. We had many good meetings together and did many things together. I remember the Home Show and working with him there many years. I remember the Telsa picnics. If I had known that Norm was here in this area I would have visited with him. Life is so short. I pray that the Smith family will be comforted at this loss.

All of us cousins will forever have our favorite memories of Uncle Skippy, who was always quick with a corny joke or pun to make us laugh or moan. I'll never forget the way he beeped his horn when barreling in from Third Bay to pay us a visit on First Bay in that classic green and white boat. The way he wore that white captain's hat and those 1950s' Hawaiian shirts. The way he liked to grill hot dogs -- till they were black. The way he showed up to help shovel out the shoonie one year, wearing a real honest-to-goodness World War II gas mask. And the way he always seemed to have the latest newfangled electronic gadgets, including a 16-mm color movie camera from the early '50s that made him the official videographer of our family's major events, a job we are more and more grateful for as we watch old home movies of our past. He was everybody's favorite uncle, with a nickname that just made you grin from ear to ear. We'll miss you terribly, Uncle Skippy. Say hello to Mom and Dad, Nana and Papa, Nee-Nee and Grammy, and Linda and Norman. Love, Billy

I love you, Uncle Skippy, and will remember all the good times when I got the chance to stay over in West Hartford and at Mariland in Third Bay. I've always said how fortunate I was to have you as my godfather and what an incredible influence you and Auntie Ellie were on me. I know Mom and Dad were there to welcome you so that you could help celebrate their anniversary..... Good night and may God bless, Uncle Skippy....
