PAUL WILLIAM CULHANE, 73, of Port Charlotte, Florida was taken from us on Friday, April 7, 2017 at Bayfront Health-Port Charlotte.
Paul was born in 1943 in Corpus Christi, Texas to the late William and Elta Culhane. Paul graduated from High School, before enlisting in the United States Navy. He served in the Navy from 1961-1965, serving in Vietnam. After coming home from the Navy, he met his wife Jane in 1965, in New Jersey. In 1971, Paul relocated his family to Florida from New Jersey.
Paul was a former member of the American Legion of Palmetto Florida, where he served as a Commander. Paul had a passion for animals, raising show birds for many years.
He is survived by his loving family, his wife of 49 years, Jane Culhane of Port Charlotte; three sons, Timothy Culhane and Robert Culhane of Florida, and William Watkins of Pennsylvania; a sister, Kathy Kelly of Sarasota, FL; two brothers, Timothy and Edward Culhane, both of New Jersey; and seven grandchildren. Paul’s brothers Michael, Jimmy and Willie Culhane pre-deceased him.
He will be remembered for his generosity and self-less attitude. Paul was always willing to help anyone in need and was a teacher to many. Paul was a country music fan, and enjoyed watching wrestling and old movies.
A Celebration of life service will be held at later date by the Family. In Lieu of Flowers, the Family has asked for donations to be made to the Veterans Honor Flight, Inc. (https://www.honorflight.org/donate-now/) in honor of Paul.
