PHILIP SHAYMAN, 82, of Punta Gorda, Florida died Wednesday, November 22, 2006 at Tidewell Hospice and Palliative Care, Englewood, FL.
He was born July 31, 1924 in New York, New York and moved to Charlotte County 27 years ago from Miami, FL. He was a retired real estate broker and former owner of Century 21 Shayman & Associates in Port Charlotte. Philip was a Past President and member of the Punta Gorda-Port Charlotte-North Port Assn. of Realtors, a former volunteer at Bon Secours-St. Joseph Hospital, now Peace River Regional Medical Center in Port Charlotte, served as a volunteer court mediator in Charlotte County and was a former Guardian Ad Litem for the 20th Judicial Circuit of Florida. Philip also worked as a volunteer in the HOSTS Program at the West Elementary School in Arcadia. He was a member of Temple Shalom of Port Charlotte and a veteran of World War II. He served in the U.S. Army and was decorated with a Purple Heart, the Combat Infantrymans Badge and the Bronze Star. He was a member of the 26th Infantry Division Veterans Assn and the Veterans of the Battle of the Bulge.
He is survived by his loving family, his wife of 27 years, Geri P. Shayman of Punta Gorda; a daughter, Carol (Jeff) Simon of Tampa, FL; a son, Robert (Linda) Shayman of Wauchula, FL; two sisters, Fran Silver of Monsey, NY and Lillian Snow of Sun City, AZ; 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
