She was the second child of Clairezomene Casimir and Mesius Reme. She was preceded in death by her siblings Lucien Reme, Marie V. Beauvoir, and Christiane Decaze. She is survived by her siblings, Marie M. Germain, Paul D. Reme, and Raphael S. Reme.
Philomene is lovingly remembered by her devoted husband, Jean A. Bruno, her daughters Esther Bruno, Marie E. Bruno, and Marie D. Armand. She was a proud and cherished grandmother to Natasha Alcegueire, Kara Alcegueire, Judith Alcegueire, Justin Alcegueire, and Samantha Petit-Homme. She also leaves behind her siblings and their spouses: Marie M. Germain; Paul Reme and his wife, Chantal Reme; and Raphael Reme and his wife, Jacqueline Reme.
She will be fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews: Yanick Reme; Mita Denis and her spouse Yves Denis; Yolette Jean Louis and her spouse Pierre Jean Louis; Wilkens Reme and his wife Claudette Reme; Mario Reme and his wife Sandra Reme; Marie L. Beauvoir; Ruth Beauvoir; Nicole Beauvoir and her spouse Manuel Reateggui; Kevin Reme; Christopher Reme; Roberson Reme; Ruth Graham and her spouse Rashad Graham; Gregory Reme and his spouse Candace Reme; and Evena Decaze. Also survived by her cousins: Serge J. Casimir and his wife Alice Casimir; Julys Casimir and his wife Edith Casimir; Wilfrid Casimir; Marie Maude Polynice; Paula Casimir; Jude Casimir and his wife Yvrose Casimir: Marie J Casimir (Keket); Jean Bonny Casimir.
Philomene Bruno got saved at 8 years old and has never looked back since. She married the love of her life, Jean Bruno, on October 8, 1966. Together, they were blessed with three children. In 1979, she courageously traveled to the United States on her own in pursuit of a better future. Her family reunited with her in February 1981, and they settled in Evanston, Illinois.
She worked diligently at Evanston Hospital until her retirement in March 1997. In January 1998, she relocated to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where she proudly purchased her first home. After her husband’s retirement in 2005, they moved to Florida, where she enjoyed her later years surrounded by family. While living in North Port, Florida, Philomene cherished spending time with her husband, daughters, and grandchildren. She was a devoted Christian and a faithful member of Ebenezer Baptist Church. One of her proudest accomplishments was successfully passing her citizenship test and becoming a United States citizen in 2007. Philomene will be remembered for her strength, her unwavering faith, her love for her family, and the legacy she leaves behind. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 8, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Roberson Funeral Home Port Charlotte Chapel. Funeral services will be held Saturday 9:00 AM May 9, 2026, at Eben-Ezer Haitian Baptist Church, 17195 Oakleaf Ave., Port Charlotte, FL 33952. Entombment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Gardens, Port Charlotte, FL.
