Purchia Burke, 71, of Brooklyn, NY and Orlando, FL passed away Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at Cornerstone Hospice in Ocoee, FL.
Purchia was born to John Barclay and Edna Millington on May 12, 1950 in Jamaica, West Indies. Purchia was an athlete back in the days where she often exercised by running. She was a member of the 4H clubs and Girls Guildry in Jamaica. She taught pre-K classes at Salem Presbyterian Church in Jamaica. She worked with the NIS in Jamaica, the Matthew Marks Gallery in New York and also worked as a Home Health Care Surrogate in New York. Purchia was active in her church at Elim Restoration Church of God in Brooklyn, N.Y and she loved to cook and bake. She was a lovely lady who loved life and people and will forever be missed by those who loved and knew her.
She is survived by her 3 sons, Christopher Spencer of Brooklyn, NY and Omar and Kevin Spencer both of Jamaica, W.I.; her sisters, Meloney Smith, Shirley Jackson, Luna Long, Cecile Smart, Angela Barclay and Sandra Barclay-Smart; her brothers, Compton Douglas, George Barclay, Desmond Barclay and Donovan Barclay and 6 grandchildren.
Visitation will be held 1:00PM-2:00PM with a Funeral Service to follow at 2:00PM, Saturday, June 12, 2021 at St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church, 5550 S. Sumter Blvd, North Port, FL 34287. Interment will be held at a later date in Jamaica, West Indies.
