Angie & family, My heart goes out to you at this time. You watched and prayed as Ray struggled to survive from one accident and this happens. Sometimes we feel that life just is not fair. Ray was a very nice person if you took the time to get to know him. I really enjoyed talking to him when we would get the chance at the plant. I am sure he will be missed by many people. You two should have had the chance to have enjoyed each other much longer that you did. God Bless all of you.

Ray was always a upbeat customer of ours at Kallis German Butcher Shop. Each of us loved waiting on him as he always brought a smile to us. Always bringing us laughter as we filled his order. He will be missed by each of us. Our sympathy goes out to each of his friends, and family. We here are truely heart broken over his passing, and would like to send loving thoughts to his family during this most difficult time.

I was a good friend of Ray ( I called him Rayford and never ever heard anyone call him Pete) for over 20 years. The tough exterior had a heart of gold and I could tell of numerous times that he has helped other people, including myself through rough times. I will miss seeing him every day and the "colorful" conversations that we would have. He was one of a kind and will be missed by many. RIP Rayford Susie SB

Angie and family, I wanted to let you know he is truly missed here at the plant by all and that all of you are in my thoughts. I know I miss him especially after 20 years with all of the discussions we would have some calmly and some not so calmly. He had a heart that he would show when he let his guard down that most people didn't see otherwise. He was my friend.

Ray and I worked together for 19+ years at Peace River Citrus. For many of those years we unlocked the office front door for each other and Susie as we were the "early" arrivals for first shift. Every day he brought me a miniature Heath Bar candy to my desk and he availed himself to my supply of Aleve for his aches and pains caused by his first accident. We became especially close when our mutual good Friend, Kevin McIntyre, got cancer. Kevin's illness and passing cemented the relationship Ray and I had forever. I know Ray and Kevin are both in heaven and that I'll see them again. There is hope in that reunion. When I retired from Peace River in January 2015, Ray brought me a whole big bag of miniature Heath Bar candies!! He was rough and crusty if you didn't know him, but when you got to know him, you realized what a soft heart he had for others, especially if life was giving them a hard time. He helped a lot of folks and I know personally how each of them felt upon hearing the news of Ray's passing. I miss him very much and thank our God for allowing Ray and I to be co-workers and become good Friends. Ray was loved and will be missed by so many. He left this old world too soon. Rest in Peace Ray.
